Welcome, throughout the semester I will be following the Indiana State Standard - Indiana Business and Information Technology Middle School. By the end of the semester, each student should have knowledge of each standard and in most cases be able to perform the standard as listed.

What will be covered over the semester can be categorized as follows:

1. Use hardware and software components and understand the difference between input and output devices.

2. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the interactivity and operation of technology systems.

3. Understand social, legal and ethical issues related to technology use. Practice responsible use of hardware, software, and data. Interact postively with technology independently and in collaboration with others.

4. Use technology as a tool to enhance learning and creativity. Use technology to increase productivity in developing models, publications, and other creative works.

5. Use telecommunications to collaborate, publish, and interact with peers, teachers, and other audiences.

6. Use technology to access, review, evaluate, and select information from multiple resources for reporting purposes. Students write appropriate research reports.

7. Use technology to develop strategies for solving problems.

We will be using the "Learning with Computers" textbook (orange edition). You may receive more information regarding this textbook by visiting their website at www.lwcorange.keyboarding.com
