Growing Up

Although I was born in Michigan, I spent the majority of my childhood growing up in North Manchester, Indiana. I lived there with my dad, an industrial technology teacher, my mom, a school computer coordinator, my older brother Aaron, and a chubby dachsund named Duchess. I attended both Chester Elementary and Laketon Elementary. Then it was off to Manchester Junior High and Manchester High School .

Starting in elementary and continuing through high school I was involved in athletics eventually sticking with volleyball, basketball, and tennis. I also tried anything else that was interesting along the way. Band (I played the flute), choir, theatre, soccer, track, cheerleading (a little hard to believe that I did that isn't it?), Model United Nations, and student government.

Off to College

I didn't go far from home to attend college. After considering both DePauw University and Huntington College I decided to stay in town and earn my degree at Manchester College (Go Spartans!). I was an Honors Fellow there and I also played tennis. The Honors classes added a new dimension to my studies and playing college level athletics offered great competition and fun road trips. In the off season, my future husband, Cameron, and I enjoyed coaching junior high girls' basketball and track together. We were married at the end of my junior year. After four years, I had earned a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education as well as my middle school endorsement.

Moving to Middlebury

Following graduation, I was offered a job teaching 7th grade math at Heritage. We bought our first house in Spring Valley and moved to town just as I was starting assistant coaching duties for the boys' high school tennis team. That fall my husband Cameron was a football assistant at Northridge and was a teacher's aide at Jefferson Elementary. Together, we also coached 7th grade girl's basketball. The following year Cameron became a 2nd grade teacher at Jefferson and continues to teach there today in 1st grade. I enjoy having students in class that he once had!

After two years, I became an 8th grade teacher and we moved out in the country. I really enjoy spending time with our two children playing outside and exploring the woods. Our son Tanner, who currently has a split identity as BatMan, is in kindergarten at Jefferson. Our daughter Ellie is a cheerful, compassionate two-year old. Completing our family is a dachsund, Mattie, and a new puppy, Sophie.
