Mrs. Carmen Drake
I graduated from Ball State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I taught third grade at Pearson Elementary for ten years. When Pearson Elementary closed, all staff members moved to the newly constructed Hendricks Elementary. Here, I have taught fourth grade for two years and Title I for seven years. This year, I am finally back in the classroom teaching fifth grade for the first time!
My Students

I am married and have six stepchildren and one dog. I also have 3 nieces and one nephew that I am very close to. I have always lived in Shelbyville and graduated from Shelbyville High School before attending college. I like to read, play golf, shop, travel, and go to movies.
My Dog
In addition to teaching, I am also a presenter for the Indiana Teacher Reading Academy which is sponsored by East Central Education Service Center. I also have much reading remediation experience due to being in the Title I position long-term. This year, I am piloting the Scholastic READ 180 program.
