Kindergarten Teachers
We are excited about all the new things our kindergarteners will experience in 2009! AM 8:05-10:40 PM 12:10-2:45 Philosophy In kindergarten, we are concerned with the whole child. Our goal is to provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum which encompasses the academic, physical and social needs of each child in an emotionally appropriate setting.
A Day in Kindergarten Includes: Language Arts: This includes letter and sound recognition, listening comprehension skills, vocabulary, communication skills, and writing skill. Math: WaNee uses Saxon Math throughout the elementary grades. At the kindergarten level, this includes concrete manipulatives. Motor Skills: A variety of physical activities are provided on a weekly basis. Library: The children receive stories and check out a book each week. Music and Art: Activities are provided within the classroom. Science and Health: Through everyday experiences, the children relate to science and health in the world around them. Center Activities: Many different areas of the curriculum are addressed in small center settings. These include listening centers, computer centers educational games art activities, literacy centers and math manipulatives centers. Free Choice: It is important that young children have free time to develop socially and emotionally. In this way, this way they learn to make choices, solve problems while making friends and building confidence. Your child's teacher will send home classroom information pertaining to field trips, supplies, snacks, etc. since these sometimes vary. Before sending your child to school, please teach him/her: Their full name Parents' names Telephone number Address The name of another person to call in an emergency If you wish to contact either Mrs. Davies or Mrs. Snider by e-mail, you may click on the links below.

Remember the most important thing you can do to improve your child's literacy is to read to them. It is impossible to read TOO MUCH! It improves listening skills, vocabulary, general knowledge, and comprehension. READ! READ! READ! Extended Day Care is available every day on a full time or part time basis. See the front office for enrollment information. See also the Extended Day Link on the left.
