What is Early Steps?

First Graders work with a trained paraprofessional for 30 minutes daily. The Early Steps program consists of four components:

1. Repeated readings to improve fluency and vocabulary

2. Study of word families to practice decoding skills

3. Writing sentences to practice spelling and phonics skills

4. Introducing a new book to practice comprehension and decoding skills
