Each week, students are expected to take an AR test over their library book. Students must choose books on thier level while in the library. We do have a classroom library with many books that your child can read if they finish their book. At the end of the grading period, comprehension scores are averaged and then recorded as a test grade in reading for each 9 week grading period.

To earn prizes, students must maintain a 78% or higher comprehension level. Each week you will be aware of how your child is progressing on AR on their behavior sheets. Please read with your child each night to ensure comprehension adn fluency.

All second graders need to earn 2-3 points a month to meet their AR goal. Their comprehension must also be 78% or higher. Each month we have a little celebration to reward those who meet their goal. Those who don't make their goal will not participate in the activity.
