Teachers:

Mrs. JoEllen Merryman:
I am a native of Huntington, IN, and graduated from Huntington University in 1991. My husband and I have lived in Nappanee for the last 17 years and have two children. I was a stay-at-home mom for many years until I began substitute teaching for the Wa-Nee schools a few years ago. This will be my second year teaching second grade and I really enjoy being a part of the Nappanee Elementary family! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to email me at jmerryman@wanee.org.

Mrs. Kristin Roeder:
In 2005, I was given the opportunity to join the teaching staff of the Nappanee Elementary School. Growing up and attending schools in our community, I can truly say that Wa-Nee provides students with the opportunity for a strong educational experience. I graduated from NorthWood High School in 2000, and attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2004. While at Nappanee Elementary, I have had the opportunity to teach children in both 1st and 2nd grade. In 2009, I earned a Master's Degree from IPFW in Educational Leadership.

In 2006, my husband, Charlie and I were married. We currently live in Nappanee and love spending time with our dog Wrigley and with our family. Through my own educational and teaching experiences, I have developed a passion for sharing the love of learning with my students. As a classroom teacher, I continue to strive to create a learning environment that enables students to achieve their fullest potential both academically and personally. I look forward to assisting my students as they grow and learn in my classroom.

I believe communication is a key component in the learning process. This takes place in the classroom and must continue between our school and your home. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to email me at kroeder@wanee.org.

Mrs. Angie Slabaugh:
I have been teaching at Nappanee Elementary since 1999. After graduating from Ball State University in 1992, I came back to my hometown of Nappanee to pursue a teaching career. I strive to provide a safe and caring classroom environment where all students can be successful. Incorporated into our daily activities are teachings from our Language and Literacy Framework which include Writing Workshop, Reading Workshop, and Word Study.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to email me at aslabaugh@wanee.org.
