Each week, students are expected to take an AR test over their library book.At the end of the grading period, I take their overall comprehension percent and record it in my grade book as a test score.
If your child has tested over their library book, they are encouraged to read a book on their level from my classroom library. I have many, many AR books on all levels!
To earn prizes, a student must maintain a 78% or higher comprehension level.
Each Friday, I will send home an AR report with your child. To receive an "S", he/she must have taken AT LEAST one AR test and passed with a comprehension rate of 78%. Be sure to ask to see your child's library book.
All second graders need to earn 2-3 points a month to meet their AR goal. Their comprehension must also be 78% or higher.
Each month we have a little celebration to reward those who meet their goal. Those who don't make their goal will not participate in the activity.
