My Background
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sylvia Spurling, and I am a Shelbyville native. I graduated from Shelbyville High School. I attended Butler University, and I have a B.S., an M.S., and a computer endorsement from there. I have taught school in Shelbyville for the past 39 years. This is my 40th year. I also taught for a year in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is my fourth year at Coulston. I feel very fortunate to have a job that I enjoy so much. It is different and exciting every day. |
My Interests
My husband, Larry, and I live in rural Shelby County. He is an agent for Farm Bureau Insurance. We have two daughters. Our older daughter, Kristin, teaches at Hendricks. Our younger daughter, Alison, works in human resources in California. We also have two delightful grandchildren, Nolan and Sophie. Nolan is a fsecond grade student at Coulston this year. Sophie is attending kindergarten at Coulston.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, fishing, golf, needlework, travel, and playing the piano.
I am a member of the Board of Directors of the Shelbyville Shelby County Public Library, and currently serve as its president. |
