Hello! My name is Tamara Long, your child’s 8th grade Language Arts teacher. I have traveled the road to higher education for 11 years of my adult life. I completed my journey with an associate’s degree in Business Administration, a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and a secondary Language Arts Educator's License.

My background is very diverse. I have had the opportunities to work for Fortune 500 companies throughout my career. I have held management positions in Human Resources, Marketing and Sales, and Office and Facility Management. I have taught for Ivy State Technical College and taught in the fitness industry for approximately eight years.

I believe learning is a life-long process that requires knowledge and skills to adapt to our ever changing environment. I also believe it is important for learners to make a connection between education in the present and how it can be used in the future. As your child’s English educator, I will strive to create an environment that promotes relevant and life-long learning by employing state standard driven curriculum incorporated with a positive and supportive atmosphere. In creating this atmosphere, I will challenge your child to become an “out-of-the box thinker”.

Overall, my goal is to accurately teach and provide meaningful, challenging, learning experiences for your child as he or she develops and acquires English language arts skills. This goal will be met by establishing high standards, helping students strive to meet goals and classroom objectives, offering a creative learning environment, and incorporating innovative instruction and assessment tools in the classroom.
